How do I spread CarbonizPNĀ®?
The best way to spread CarbonizPN is with a belt-driven topdresser like the EcoLawn Applicator, Earth & Turf spreader, or a drop spreader. If this equipment is unavailable to you, use a high-volume output spreader, mulch spreader, or ice melt spreader. You can also use an agitator in your walk-behind spreader for better results.
How often should I apply CarbonizPNĀ®?
We recommend applying monthly during the turf growing season. Other application times include: after aeration. before laying sod, and during tree and planting installations.
Which Release product should I use?
Consider what your soil and plants need. Determine your desired NPK and carbon input.
- Release 901 C - 9-0-1 NPK, 10% carbon
- Release Zero - no NPK, 10% carbon
- Release 202 - 2-0-2 NPK, 2% carbon
If in doubt, Release 901c is our most popular and widely available biostimulant fertilizer.
What is a minimum risk pesticide (FIFRA 25b Exempt)?
Because EPA has determined that certain "minimum risk pesticides" pose little to no risk to human health or the environment, the EPA has exempted them from the requirement that they be registered under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act. This exemption provision is located in 40 CFR 152.25(f). These products came to be known as FIFRA exempt.
Per the EPA: "Starting in 1996, we exempted such products to reduce the cost and regulatory burdens on businesses and the public for pesticides posing little or no risk, and to focus our resources on pesticides that pose greater risk to humans and the environment."
MG Pest Control uses ingredients known to be safe for humans and pets, and is thus exempt from FIFRA review. However, with an 80%+ kill rate it's certainly not safe for mosquitoes, no-see-ums, and other nasty pests!
Does LESCOĀ® CarbonPro-Gā¢ require immediate watering after applying?
No, it is not required. While it's a good idea to "water in" LESCO CarbonPro-G to activate the dormant biology and help the granules start to break down into the soil, this isn't a necessary step. The product will naturally break down over time from watering events.
Can this product burn my lawn?
You're unlikely to overdo it with any of the Mirimichi Green soil amendments. They are designed not to burn.
For those that really want to know the maximum they should use:
- For an established lawn, you should limit turf topdressing applications to about a quarter-inch so you don't smother the grass crowns (the growing points).
- For seeding on bare ground or in preparation for laying down sod, spreading 1/2" or even more should be no problem.
Is CarbonPro-G a fertilizer?
No. LESCO CarbonPro-G has no claims of macronutrients, otherwise known as N-P-K (Nitrogen - Phosphorus - Potassium), which is required for a product to be a fertilizer. CarbonPro-G is a soil amendment/enhancer. A soil amendment is any material added to a soil to improve its physical properties, such as water retention, permeability, water infiltration, drainage, aeration, and structure. The goal is to provide a better environment for roots.
