ByoSpxtrum™

Water Activated Biological Powder

ByoSpxtrum is a water-activated biological powder proven to improve root systems and grow stronger, healthier plants and turf.

ByoSpxtrum contains a variety of beneficial microbes and a patented microbiology strain. Our goal is to combine the best strains so we can utilize their complimentary activities to the utmost benefit. By using combinations of bacteria, ByoSpxtrum has the ability to function in many different ways that are helpful to the plant.

Coverage:

ByoSpxtrum comes in a convenient 17-ounce pouch with a ziplock so it can easily be resealed. One pouch of ByoSpxtrum is enough to treat approximately 5 acres.

Summary:

The strains in ByoSpxtrum are carefully tested and selected based on their abilities. The included microbes outcompete the native microbiology for space and nutrients. They have antimicrobial activity which helps for establishment in the rhizosphere as well as reducing the pathogen levels. ByoSpxtrum’s strains cycle the nutrients found in the soil and solubilize minerals, making them more available for the plant. ByoSpxtrum includes plant growth-promoting strains as well as strains capable of induced systemic resistance (ISR). The product colonizes the plant with beneficial bacteria, suppresses pathogens while feeding the plant, and promotes the growth of the plant. We are able to build all of these activities into a single product by incorporating multiple strains with complimentary activities.

This image shows root colonization by Bacillus subtilis. By forming the slightly opaque biofilm associated with the plant root, ByoSpxtrum creates a physical barrier that helps to prevent attack by plant pathogens and benefit the plant.

Each strain has been vetted through rigorous testing to ensure its success in the soil profile against naturally present microbes. We select strains that are fast-growing and consume a variety of organic compounds. This includes strains that produce high levels of enzymes, as well as, strains that consume organic acids that are liberated by the plants. ByoSpxtrum also includes strains capable of growing on ammonia, nitrate, and nitrate, making these nitrogen compounds more available to the plant. Each included beneficial bacteria is screened for their ability to do work in the soil and for the plant. For example, these abilities include: growth at different temperatures and different pH extremes, degrade different types of carbohydrates, and produce enzymes. With our bacteria growing in the rhizosphere, we are able to sequester various forms of nitrogen that may have been lost to the atmosphere, such as ammonia. Our bacteria will also grow on the root exudates, in turn producing plant beneficial compounds. As a natural part of the process, our strains will degrade organic matter in the soil, bringing these nutrients into the rhizosphere to help feed the plant. We have also screened our strains for the ability to release nutrients that are tightly bound to the soil for use by the microorganisms and plants, particularly potassium and phosphorous.

ByoSpxtrum is able to inhibit the growth of potential pathogens through induced systemic resistance (ISR). Induced systemic resistance is the addition of bacteria to the root zone to help prevent disease throughout the aerial portions of the plant. The plant is then able to translocate defense signals throughout.

How to Apply ByoSpxtrum™

Purpose

ByoSpxtrum is a variety of microbe food sources designed to enhance the indigenous plant-friendly microbial populations in the soil.

How to Activate ByoSpxtrum

  1. Activate the ByoSpxtrum by combining approximately 6 oz of water for each 1 oz of ByoSpxtrum powder in a container. Agitate the slurry until any clumps are dissolved, and powder is uniformly suspended in the liquid.
  2. Prepare your spray tank with water or liquid fertilizer as needed.
  3. Pour the ByoSpxtrum slurry into your spray tank and agitate or top off with water to disperse it throughout the tank.
  4. Apply directly after adding to the tank.
